Saccomanno & Dayot

Chantal Saccomanno and Olivier Dayot are based in Marseille. Working in perfect harmony, they have been creating a strange colony of eccentric furniture since 1992. From wood carved with a chain saw to a curvy chair covered with beautiful black ink "lace" drawings. Chantal sketches a design that Olivier interprets and sculpts in three dimensions, which he covers with a thick lacquer before sanding. He then lets Chantal’s agile fingers adorn the works with an intricate web of patterns and motifs, before taking the pieces back to seal them with a layer of varnish to finish the furniture. Both artists contribute a few notes to the sheet music of this creative concerto. Together, they produce a rich and melodious musical phrase. Each piece is a unique composition.
