Éric Liot

Eric LIOT, born in 1964 in Caen, is a man of contrast; a city-dwelling outdoor-type, a man who bursts with serenity, who is serious but playful, who is capable of abundant concentration, an adult adolescent…. He holds a multitude of possible adventures in his head and thus builds his parallel and playful world; he lets himself be guided by the heterogeneous forms of the objects he has collected. Wood remains his favorite material. Bronze a new-found friend. It’s all about construction, juxtaposition of different woods, orchestration of screws, bolts and patinas. He has an unusual goldsmith-come-mechanic hand, that brings him to transform old boards into precious totems. These works have this almost instantaneous ability to catch your eye and draw you to them.
