Cécile Plaisance
After working in the financial markets Cécile decided to follow her passion, photography ; "my pictures ask simple questions, ranging from the difficulty of being a woman, to the tyranny of religions, and to the need to enjoy and beautify our lives". She uses universal emblems like Barbie, as well as icons of the cinema and the catwalk. For Cécile religion is written and dictated by men. She questions the place left for women and their desirs. In her latest series “Fuck the Rules” she pushes the boundries of freedom of expression, going as far as depicting the pope as a woman. Cécile takes nourishment from everything ; Helmut Newton moves her, and Oliviero Toscani have helped her to be daring. Today, her photos are displayed in private and corporate collections, as well as in museums world-wide.
