William Sweetlove

William Sweetlove

William Sweetlove was born in Ostende, Belgium, in 1949. Since 2001, he has been a member of the “Cracking Art Group”, an artist colony in Northern Italy. The basic material used in their works is derived from plastic obtained by a thermochemical reaction with raw petroleum, known as “cracking”. Sweetlove creates friction between the artificial and substantial with his creations. The barriers between a child’s game and work of art are erased. Poodles, giraffes and penguins seems to unite Dadaism, surrealism and pop art in post-modern fusion. Since 1994, his works have been exhibited at leading fairs, galleries and museums worldwide.
