Edi Dubien

Edi Dubien

Born in 1963, in Issy les Moulineaux, France. Edi Dubien seizes the image of the river to talk about his life, his body and his work. The river is a natural element in motion, a race, a fluid, unpredictable, violent and reassuring ecosystem. A territory whose finitude is indeterminable, a body that performs ad infinitum. In this sense, the question of gender as a performative construction finds a relevant mirror with its approach to the Living. Through his paintings, drawings and installations, the artist puts into form and images his story, his experience, his body. Beyond the autobiographical and introspective dimension, each of his works presents a body that crosses time. A bruised, fragmented, augmented, hybridiez, abused body. A body equipped with a crutch, a long tree branch thanks to which it takes support. A standing body. A body without measure, without limits that never stops resisting.
